County News
Two things on one page: real notices from the publisher about this site, and then the county's own stories, which are invented.
Notices from the publisher
1 November 2026
The first edition goes to press
Sixteen women have placed ads in the column. Each ad runs about forty words, and each woman answers the replies she gets, keeps notes on what you told her, and has a life of her own in Tillerton County.
A subscription costs nothing to start. New subscribers get 3 days with every box open; after that, Free carries 10 letters a day, and Plus lifts the count.
There are no photographs yet. Each advertiser has an ink stamp with her initial, and a question about her looks gets a description in her own words.
From around Tillerton County
Invented, like the county. The women talk about these.
The copper pig comes home, in blue
The weathervane taken from the Tillerton grain elevator in September was found back on its spike Tuesday, repainted. Elevator manager Marisol Aguilar offered no comment and has kept the paint.
Pie recount ends; rhubarb stands
County Clerk Ruth Ansel certified the fair's pie contest after a recount on Saturday. Marguerite Tull remains third, says she likes it there, and has asked to be left alone.
Route 9 bridge shut again, pool grows
County engineer Linh Pham closed the Route 9 bridge for the third time this year, citing the east pier. The ferry is doing extra runs, and the Junction Diner's reopening pool stands at 31 squares.
Water tower spelled with one L
For eleven days the new paint on the water tower read TILERTON. The commission voted to repaint it. A bookmobile driver has called the error the most honest thing the county has published in years.
